“Give me the right word and the right accent, and I will move the world.” — Joseph Conrad

Movies can be dubbed. Stories can be translated. But no translated story will ever carry the weight and strength of one written in its intended language.

No one likes subtitles. That’s where I come in.

I am a bilingual journalist whose stories have been published in both English and Spanish.

As a Web producer for La Palma, I juggled writing and publishing breaking news in both languages — for print and web. I mastered two content management systems and lead the project of migrating an entire news website from one CMS to another.

As a reporter for the Palm Beach Post, I’m tasked with running out to breaking news scenes to cover murders, robberies and accidents. I often shoot video and pictures to accompany my stories on the website and in print. Occasionally, I get to relive my days as a web producer by packing my own stories online.

In less than a year with Cox, I was presented with the option of covering crime as a reporter. By that point, I had already worn the hat of an intern, clerk and Web producer. Crime reporting was a new and exciting option — and I jumped in head first.
